Republican Theocracy, Parts 1 – 4 by Frank Casper

Christian Reconstructionism, the Religious Right, and the GOP

Part 1 is a 45 page essay examining the outsized influence an obscure and fringe theology has on the GOP and contemporary politics.

Mainstream Conservative Support for the Agenda of the Religious Right

Part 2 examines mainstream conservative support for the ideas of the religious right, dating back to the 1980s and 1990s. It examines two major publications of the time, The End of Democracy? The Judicial Usurpation of Politics by Richard John Neuhaus in 1997, and The Closing of the American Mind by Allan Bloom in 1987.

Race and the Religious Right

Part 3 examines the enduring racism in the agenda of the Religious Right. The chapter suggests that the agenda of the Religious Right is racism wrapped in the language of religious freedom, undermining both the First and the 14th amendments to the Constitution. It further exposes conservative efforts to mainstream the radical racist right by wrapping their views in scholarly garb with an examination of Dinesh D’Souza’s influential book, The End of Racism: Principles for a Multicultural Society, published in 1995.

The lliberal Left, a Mirror of the Religious Right

Part 4 examines the relationship between what we now call “the Illiberal Left,” or “wokesim,” and the Religious Right. The Illiberal Left is every bit as anti-Democratic as the Religious Right. Where the Religious Right shrouds its intent in religion, the Illiberal left shrouds it in “social justice.” Each builds their ideological movement on an epistemology that attacks and undermines that of our Enlightenment legacy.

From here in France, ‘ merci ‘ for this publication. The Closing of the American Mind has been on my book shelf since it was published 30 years ago. Prophetic in many ways.

As I understand it, you needed 62 pages to point out our system of government, or the way the current system functions lacks sufficient “democracy.” My first and pre-eminent argument: our system is not a democracy. Ours is a constitutional republic. Article I and II branches have representatives elected through a democratic process. The Article III branch is not democratic. Judicial officers are appointed for life, they act as referees for the Article I & II representatives. Their concern is whether law-making and enforcement actions comport with the Constitution and legal precedents that make up the cannon of our legal… Read more »

Well, it’s clear that you don’t understand it. In the future, I recommend you try actually reading what you comment on.

It’s clear I don’t understand what I read? Just take me off the notification list, I have no interest in any further ad hominem attacks from the morally superior.

One example, and I’m done. “Second is an assertion that laws should be divorced from any form of religious morality.” This suggestion is absolutely nowhere to be found in anything I wrote. In fact, the opposite literally oozes from both sections. That is just one example. You either didn’t read it, read into it, or just didn’t get it. Goodbye and good riddance.

This is incoherent nonsense. You read like one of these people who says “our system is not a democracy. Ours is a constitutional republic.” as if it were a good thing.

“our laws are a reflection of our society’s beliefs and preferences”
or
“Calling our system of federal government a democracy is academic malpractice”

Pick one.

Trying to hide your identity, Erik is cowardly. You’re not to be taken seriously.
